Join your children to connect with the environment and others this year with Free Forest School options in Logan County!
Free Forest School Saturdays
On the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 9am-10:30am, meet up with various JNS team members and other families for a FREE hour & a half of lightly facilitated unstructured play and exploration at Myeerah Nature Preserve, friend of Journey Nature School.

About the program
Infant/toddler ages and up (All ages welcome)
Come dressed for the weather with adequate shoes and layers for everyone in the family!
We recommend having a water bottle, change of clothes, and a snack handy, as the elements really take it out of an explorer!
Adult Attendance is required (min 1, but more are welcome)

Is this event ACTUALLY free?
YES! JNS values connecting families with nature-based experiences.
Please see the cancellation policy, should you not be able to make the event after registering.
What if I register and can't make it or decide not to come?
We understand that things come up and that all weather doesn't feel just right for everyone.
Due to the interest and weather conditions changing as the dates arrive, JNS will keep a card on file for your FREE RSVP.
Should you RSVP and not show without at least a 1 hour notice, your card will be charged for a $5 donation to Journey Nature Kids dba JNS.
You may text (937) 404-1222 to notify about your changed plans so that we can aptly invite others waiting!
This allows us to make space for those interested if you are unable to make it.
Why is there a capacity?
JNS values experiences where groups can have guided and intentional conversation while exploring nature spaces. In order to best ensure the quality experience of Free Forest School, we put a cap on the number of individuals that can attend so that everyone can adequately be supported during our time together.
What do I get during this experience?
During Free Forest School events, you get:
- a facilitated nature walk/exploration of various natural areas
- guided discussion with supporting young children in outdoor settings
- modeled language about risk-taking and boundaries for all bodies in natural spaces
- more information about JNS programming
- guidance regarding local wildlife and ways to navigate spaces
